ViennArt Academy offers adult sewing classes designed for beginners and intermediate learners. Students will build a strong foundation in basic sewing techniques, learn how to read and use commercial patterns, and explore the process of creating their own custom patterns. Taught in a supportive and professional environment, this course is ideal for those interested in fashion, craft, or simply developing a practical and creative skill.
Courses
Intro to Sewing
In this course, you will learn basic hand-sewing techniques and become familiar with sewing machines. You will become familiar with different fabrics to incorporate into multiple sewing projects. Working knowledge of draping and pattern making; the awareness of the finished garment and how to construct it. You will learn the techniques needed to create basic details in a garment and enjoy a new source of design inspiration.
Advanced Sewing
In this course, you will continue to strengthen your sewing techniques by becoming familiar with commercial patterns and an at-home serger machine. You will learn about different fabrics to incorporate into a more in-depth commercial sewing project. Learn sewing and fabric terminology of patterns and materials: the awareness of the finished garment and how to construct it.
Tailoring / Alteration
Learn the basics of tailoring your own clothing in our Tailoring and Alterations Course! We’ll teach you essential sewing skills to repair minor everyday clothing issues. Bring in the clothes you love but wish fit better—we’ll help you adjust them! Learn to take in or let out seams, fix hems, replace zippers, sew buttons, adjust closures, and add darts for a perfect fit.
